What Is A Prosthodontist?

What Is A Prosthodontist?

Dr. Greg Seal is a prosthodontist, a dentist who specializes in the restoration and replacement of natural teeth. Prosthodontists are not just general dentists. Following four years of dental school, prosthodontists complete three or more years of residency training in an American Dental Association (ADA) accredited graduate program. This program ensures the mastery of the science and advanced techniques necessary to create long-lasting, functional, and esthetically pleasing restorations. While it’s common to see the phrase “cosmetic dentist,” cosmetic dentistry is not an actual dental specialty; these dentists have not completed a residency program. Fewer than 2% of all dentists are prosthodontists, and Dr. Seal has been recognized as a leader in this highly specialized field. He has presented before leading organizations, including the American Prosthodontic Society, the American Dental Association, the Swiss Implant Society, and the German Dental Association. He has authored several articles, as well as technical manuals, for the leading implant manufacturers. Dr. Seal is a winner of the Weaver Award for Excellence in Fixed Prosthodontics and served as Director of Graduate Studies in Prosthodontics at the University of Missouri. A large part of Dr. Seal’s practice is also focused on maintaining your natural teeth and your dental health. These services include regular cleaning and hygiene appointments as well as conservative periodontal maintenance based on your personal oral health needs.
