Our goal is to help you keep your teeth a lifetime. A most important element is regular check-ups and teeth cleaning (dental hygiene). Our dental hygiene department will serve all of your routine cleaning and examination needs. They work closely with Dr. Seal to insure long-term maintenance of your dental health.
WHAT EXACTLY IS A DENTAL HYGIENE VISIT?
Dental hygiene visits include cleaning your teeth as well as the monitoring of your oral health on a routine basis.
YOUR DENTAL HYGIENE VISIT WILL INCLUDE:
• A comprehensive examination;
• Radiographs (X-rays) as needed;
• Periodontal (gums) evaluation;
• Oral cancer screening;
• Home care recommendations based on your specific needs.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF REGULAR HYGIENE VISIT?
Regular hygiene visits will enable the hygienist and Dr. Seal to monitor your oral health for prevention of future dental problems and to treat any conditions requiring intervention. Early diagnosis of any dental problems allows for more conservative treatment.
IF I HAVE GUM DISEASE, WHAT OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE FOR TREATMENT?
Most adults will develop some form of gum disease in their lifetime. Untreated, the condition can lead to tooth loss. Conservative therapy in our hygiene department will successfully treat most situations while advanced disease will require treatment by a periodontist with whom we work closely.
DO I NEED TO CONTINUE MY HYGIENE VISITS WHILE I AM IN TREATMENT?
Crowns, bridges and implant procedures don’t diminish the need for regular hygiene visits. While you are in treatment, it is important to maintain the health of the tissues. This will aid in the overall outcome of your dental procedures.
